REMOTE SENSING, 2016
Installation with natural & dyed sand, sand sculptures, wooden bases, sound
Dimension variable

The name of the installation borrows from the term that refers to satellite-based technologies detecting and classifying objects on Earth. Shown at the gallery Sinne in Helsinki, the installation attempted to point towards notions of overseeing and control – a characteristic of the Western approach towards the world at large – and how this distance renders invisible the vast complexities that support life in its many forms on Earth.
